Sara Russell

Many of my objects can be held in your hand, similar to a coin or stone. Sometimes, they find their way into existing locations. They might be inserted directly into a space or created in response to it. Sometimes, I use thread to connect-the-dots of a sculptural work, so the viewer follows the thread to discover the piece. Play is an important element in my work, and I enjoy seeing what happens if.

Originally from Oregon, I moved to NYC in 1994 and have enjoyed making art here ever since. I currently make work in my apartment in Brooklyn and studio in Queens.
